Clairvoyance, Clairaudience, Clairsentience: Are the Clairs Actually Necessary?

Do the Clairs Really Matter?

Are you clairvoyant, clairaudient, clairsentient, or claircognizant? Personally, I don’t think it really matters.

For centuries, spiritual teaching has placed a lot of weight on the “clairs,” the clairsenses like clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, and claircognizance. Any traditional teacher will start here. They’ll say, “Let’s find out how you receive messages from spirit. Then we’ll strengthen that skill.”

And while there is wisdom in this approach, I believe it is not the only way. In fact, for many intuitives, it can become a distraction.

The Problem With Focusing on the Clairs

The truth is, people can spend months, sometimes years, circling around the clairs. Taking quizzes. Reading books. Signing up for classes. Trying to label their ability before they actually trust it.

I did this myself. And what I found is that it can be a kind of spiritual procrastination. Because deep down, you already know how you are receiving.

You don’t need to overanalyze it. You don’t need a label to validate it.

Instead, you can sit quietly, ask for a message, and simply notice what happens. Do you hear? Do you see? Do you just know? The answer will reveal itself without all the extra steps.

What If We’re Asking the Wrong Question?

The “clairs” are about how. How am I receiving? How does spirit translate something telepathic into my senses?

But I believe the better question is who.

Who are you receiving from the strongest?

This question shifts everything.

Who You Talk to Matters

I believe everyone can communicate with angels, spirit guides, ancestors, star beings, ascended masters, and other beings of light. But based on who you are and what your soul came here to do, you will naturally be more attuned to some than others.

That connection often reveals something about your purpose.

For example, my clearest channel is always with spirit guides. For others, it is angels. For traditional mediums, it may be crossed-over loved ones.

And here is the key: who you talk to most easily is often the very group meant to walk closest with you. They are tied to your nature, your frequency, and your life path.

A New Way Forward

This is a new generation of intuitives. While the clairs have their place, we also need to evolve our questions.

So instead of asking what or how, try asking who.

  • Who shows up for you again and again?

  • Who do you feel most comfortable with?

  • Who gives you the clearest, most reliable messages?

When you know the answer, you will begin to understand more about your gifts and your purpose.

In my next blog, I will dive deeper into this question of who, how to identify who your guides are, and how to strengthen that communication.

Spoiler alert: it is much simpler than you think.
